Vault is OPEN for Kickstarter Campaign!

Alright, folks! The lid is off the vault! I've cracked open my stash of oil paintings that I've done for various card companies over the years and included them in my Kickstarter campaign! Check it out at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2129071878/the-zombie-axiom-a-novel . One of the images is shown below. It's Truthtrance Inquest, a painting of a Bene Gesserit sister I did for the Dune CCG.

And So...

Back from New York, and and the process of self-publishing the book grinds on. Through my agent, I've located a copy/line editor who will give my book a read and let me know all of the mistakes I've made.

Let there be none. Let there be none...

I've also been hashing out my Kickstarter campaign, because every good project (or even, "any" project) should have a Kickstarter campaign to usher in either wonderful success or hand-wringing failure.

So here is for success!

Stay tuned to see how it goes. It may be ugly.

News on the Zombie Book

I got off the phone with my agent yesterday and have been pondering the conversation ever since. Basically, there is some good news. He sent the pitch letter out last month and two publishers got back to him with a request for the full manuscript! Nice. From there, though, we discussed how we've had interest in the book like this before and it only resulted in heartbreak (okay, maybe not "heartbreak," but certainly disappointment). So the track we decided upon is to gain traction by releasing the book first as a self-published work. If it sees a lot of readers, then a publisher would be more apt to bite. So, away we go...

I'm starting to put things in motion and we'll see where this thing leads.

More to come very soon.

In the meantime, here is some zombie art I whipped up:

Still Searching for that Publisher!

It's been what? Eight months?

Yeah, eight months and still searching.

I finished writing my first novel ten months ago, sent it out to literary agents, found one who wanted to sign me on, signed on, did up a swell ole' pitch letter, and have spent the last eight months checking my email every five minutes hoping for that wonderful email saying, "Hey Dave, guess what!"

That moment has not occurred.

Blarg.

We've sent it around to 19 publishers so far (including the BIG 6- meaning those massive guys in NY) and we've had it on the desks of nine of them! That's pretty good, right? Well, yes and no. Out of those nine, we've had seven of them say, "thanks but no thanks" and two of them say, "we're still thinkin' it over, we'll let ya know."

Blarg. Again.

So now we are sending out to a new batch of editors and poking those who need poking. We'll see how that goes.

I'll let you know.

One good thing with all this waiting is that now I am up to checking my email every six minutes. That's an improvement, right?

Anyhow, here's some art:

Book Fun

Here's a fun little header I've done. The zombie head will appear in the novel I've written as a chapter image. The image below is an interior illustration for the same book. I'm in the process of hunting down a literary agent now. The process is insanely slow and tedious, but hey, what else is there to do... I mean besides creating artwork, family obligations, etc...
